Mi-ryong ShimProfessor Mi-Ryong Shim is a scholar at Pacific University specializing in the imperialisation, conversion and Pan-Asian regionalism in the late colonial era in Korea. In this seminar, in particular, Professor Mi-Ryong Shim examines the works of novelist Yi Hyo-sŏk in detail, in order to demonstrate his writings exemplify the chaotic period in which such movements were born, and how his works help define the abstract term called “Koreanness”.
